“Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering” –Yoda
Higher Darkness is not hate, fear, suffering, or anything like that. Sometimes you have to go through those to understand it. Sometimes evil things are attracted to the dark path, like bandits lurking on the road ready to pounce on you. Perhaps hate and fear are reached more easily from the Dark road, but then again I believe there are other things just as evil lurking on the path that our modern society thinks of as “light.” Things like self-righteousness and judging without understanding. Too much light is as blinding as too much dark, and also it’s painful to the eyes.
The Higher Dark is not about giving in to negativity, feeding fear and anger until they fester. I call that being “ridden by the dark” (or at least that is part of it). That is letting your negative feelings fill and consume your Dark Side until you are no longer yourself, until you are out of control and out of that ever-important balance.
Darkness is some quality that is other, something that calls to us in the night, speaks to us in our dreams. It says, “be more than what you are,” “think outside the box,” “explore places where caution is needed.” The Higher Dark, among other things, is about NOT being afraid. It is facing fear, examining anger and hate to find the problems inside, not outside, of yourself, and expressing your Dark Side to come into balance with your Light Side so you are no longer suffering needlessly.
